February 2017 Newsletter

Mother Nature sleeps now,
All the earth is bare.
Deep in the ground,
She guards her treasures rare.

Dear Parents ~
We have been enjoying our capricious Colorado weather with Father Sun taking turns with the North Wind to bring us varied days of warmth and coldness. And mud J The puddles have been very conducive to great games of Carwash, Soupmaking, etc.
The children have been working on wet-felted wool valentines for their February projects so they should be bringing those home next week sometime. Here is a link that describes a process similar to the one we are using:

Recent stories have been The Little Round Bun, The Valentine Gnomes, and now we are hearing The Boy and the North Wind, which comes from a Norse Legend. We have been hearing The Story of Little Babaji at beeswax time.
In our circle time, we have been playing with snowflakes, and snowmen and Little Jackie Frost.
Just a reminder that we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day next week. The children can bring their homemade paper valentine to school on Valentine’s Day. We will enjoy handing them out during our Valentine game and then we’ll follow up with a festive snack. Again, all children are invited even if they don’t normally attend on Tuesdays. If it is not your child’s usual day, pick-up time will be 12:15 and they won’t need to bring a lunch. Regularly scheduled children will continue with their usual Tuesday schedule. Please let me know if your will not attend.
It was great having the opportunity to meet with so many of you during Parent /Teacher conferences. We love comparing notes with you and taking the time to focus on each individual personality in the class. As always, feel free to approach teachers with any questions you might have at any time.
The school will be closed for Waldorf Teachers Conference Week – February 20-24. Rather than take in-service days throughout the school year, Waldorf schools nationwide take this time in February so that teachers may have time for professional development, study, reflection, planning, rejuvenating, etc. We will resume on February 27.
Best wishes from all the Parzival teachers
